Up and running… er, walking quickly
Well. My new website is finally up and running! I will be adding stuff into the sections that are currently marked “info to come” so please don’t give up on me if you stumble onto something that’s not finished yet; cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die it will be done soon! My web designer is also a musician so she’s currently stretched a bit thin (although she claims that she’s put on weight). More later! - Jane
SEPTEMBER 28 2008 Hey everyone-things have been busy in “Janeland”-spent the last year recording and putting out my new CD called iFiddle theyBanjo which features me playing fiddle with-you guessed it! fabulous banjo players. 5 actually-This project started out in Summer of 07 during the Clifftop Appalachian String Band Festival when it hit me that the music I was making with all of the wonderful banjo players that I get to play with was interesting and fun to listen to! So I traveled to Ohio, Virginia and Washington DC to capture tunes with Hilarie Burhans, Cathy Fink, Reed Martin, Jimmy McCown and Dan Rublee. This was a real collaboration from the tune selections and arrangements and I am so delighted with the results. Actually had too many tracks to include on the CD so maybe I’ll have to do a iFiddle Part 2 sometime. It is on my own iFiddle label and is available from me (soon on CD baby and other online services). Oh-for fun I added a “bonus” track from a recording I did while touring and recording with our trio Hadden Rothfield and Carr-it is a version of Bury Me Beneath the Weeping Willow. The harmonies and percussion are by musicians in a reggae group that we saw perform in Edinburgh Scotland, while we were recording our record When These Shoes Were New (More on the Scotland Days!). It was a blast to record and I recommend that you play it loud! Have fun!
November 21 Have had a great Fall with lots of playing-especially working on fabulous material with the new band Red Hen with Dave, LInda and Allan. I am especially delighted because we are reviving alot of original material that Allan and I have put together over the years but didn’t have the “band” vehicle for performing so watch out! Also the harmonies are simply glorious if I may say so! We have some gigs coming up opening for Laurie Lewis in December, playing at Banjo Jim’s on January 3rd in NYC and of course at the Dance Flurry. We start recording our new cd with Joe “Bass” DeJarnette in January so stay tuned for that! You can also catch us at Old Songs Festival in Altamont NY June 26-28th (www.oldsongs.org) and our pal Jimmy McCown will also be there so there will be lots of HOT music and jamming going on all weekend long! Hey Jane!!! wow…. back in the mississippi hot sun. I really enjoyed meeting, picking and watching you play.. I am making me a website now too! I have the name flossthefiddle.com reserved and plan to have a site that you can choose between the dental side or music side! ha there will probably be more music stuff.. ha.. keep in touch .. i love yall.. jack.. im watching the videos now!

now, just now I realized who you are! I knew you looked familiar… 2 years ago, I think it was you?? but I recorded you playing walk like an egyptian on the stage at clifftop! Jane, is that correct? wow, i guess i could be wrong but think there was someone that looked like ya on my video from 2005…..

Hi Jane: It was great to see you at Cliftop. The boys and I really had a great time. It was awsome to see Ben up on stage for the first time playing. When I got back home and tried to play your CD I found that there was no CD in the case. I’m wondering if you have a CD floating around without a case? I was able to hear it over at Marc’s one night and loved it. Wondering if I could get another copy from you for myself? I’d also like to purchase 3 more for other family (Kelly’s parents and other brother Marty) and for a friend. Thanks and hope to make it to Rockbridge! Libby
